Kai-Hsuan CHANG

Kai-Hsuan CHANG is a Paiwan artist, whose work explores how land, memory, and Indigenous identity are shaped, rewritten, and reconfigured within contemporary structures of power. Following his early practice grounded in woodcraft, he later focused on the dramatic transformation of his hometown landscape under the development of large-scale renewable energy infrastructures. In 2025, he began to create a dialogue between ancestral memory and contemporary technology by interweaving Paiwan cultural language, handcraft practices, and digital imagery. His practice investigates how landscape, history, and cultural identity are fragmented, dissolved, and rewritten under the forces of politics, technology, and capital.

(Kai-Hsuan CHANG received the First Prize of the Taiwan Craft Award in 2019 and the First Prize of the Yilan Art Award in 2025.)
